Congratulations to Dr. Dandapani and co-investigators from the NeuroScience Foundation of Brevard for being accepted to the 2013 American Academy of Neurology annual meeting to present our research study "A Better Model for Evaluating Patients with TIA in Hospital Settings." The research findings were presented on March 19, 2013.
The study aimed to identify potential differences in evaluation, management, outcomes, and costs in TIA patients admitted under inpatient status vs. observation status. The results showed that TIA patients evaluated in an observation setting have similar outcomes as those admitted to inpatient, but with a lower cost, reduced length of stay and without compromising outcomes. It was concluded that treating patients in an outpatient "TIA Unit" may be a better clinical and economic model based on the findings.
