What an incredible time spent at the Neuroethics Seminar! Neuropassionates at the event spent nearly an hour discussing and debating the ethical concerns that surround patient care and informed consent. We discussed the implications of informed consent, how consent would work with neurocompromised patients, the imbalance of power between doctors and patients, the age of consent, maturity and its correlation with age, recent research about studying the brain of decision-making, and finally about how to equip medical professionals and patients with the right resources and knowledge to make this process universally ethical.
This event truly demonstrated how the passion to learn and share can overcome boundaries. As neuropassionates gathered on a virtual platform to voice their opinions and learn from people from all over the globe, they nurtured the spirit of knowledge and elevated the missions and values of the Neuroscience Foundation.
We want to thank everyone who attended the seminar by awarding each of you Certificates of Participation to mark your involvement with the Neuroscience Foundation. For those who were unable to attend, here is a recording of the seminar! Please share your thoughts, opinions, and comments in the comment section of this blog post.
